Moretto’s majestic Christ Blessing appears from the half-light, like a vision: the viewer’s point of observation is completely frontal and contributes to the perception of the figure as extremely rigorous and austere. Christ raises his right hand as a sign of blessing; the anatomical and perspective perfection of the fingers is astonishing. The face has slightly elongated eyes and full lips. The beard is rendered soft by shaded brushstrokes.
